Ethan Lake is a Chicago native who has worked at C1st Credit Union since relocating to Iowa in 2016. Ethan, who has served as the Branch Manager of the C1st Credit Union Venture Drive branch in Ottumwa, was recently promoted to Branch Manager of the Richmond branch.

After seeing co-workers and friends participate in the Ottumwa Leadership Academy, Ethan was inspired by their personal and professional growth through the program. He applied for the 2021-2022 class in hopes of growing as a leader, as well. His growth kicked off early in the program when he learned more about his top CliftonStrengths;

1)      Individualization

2)      Intellection

3)      Empathy

4)      Responsibility

5)      Developer

“Learning more about my top 5 CliftonStrengths has allowed me to hone in on my personal leadership style so I can continue to uplift and inspire those around me,” Ethan said. With his high empathy strength, it is no surprise that one of his favorite class sessions thus far has been the Human, Community, & Health services day. “We had the opportunity to hear from mental health and health care professionals in our community, as well as learn about some of the amazing resources available in our community.”

Outside of work, Ethan enjoys being involved in the community. “I am a volunteer Court Appointed Special Advocate (CASA) with the Iowa Child Advocacy Board and have been involved with their advocacy program since 2019. With the CASA program, I can lend my voice to Southeast Iowa’s abused and neglected children and advocate for their best interests in court,” he said.
