Suzie Morrison, 2014 graduate of the Ottumwa Leadership Academy (O.L.A.), has joined the Ottumwa Leadership Academy Advisory Board. The O.L.A. Advisory Board is comprised of O.L.A. Alumni, the current and immediate past Deans, and staff of O.L.A. and the Legacy Foundation.

Morrison is the Vice President Marketing Officer and Retail Banking Manager at South Ottumwa Savings Bank. She leads marketing and public relations for the bank and oversees retail services. “I work on product development, direct promotions, and advertising and regulatory compliance as it pertains to the retail initiatives. I am also the direct supervisor for the Deposit Service staff at Church Street, including hiring, developing, and promoting internal staff. I also serve as an active member of the Bank’s Executive Committee.”

Morrison participated in the 2nd class of the Ottumwa Leadership Academy and has stayed involved in the Alumni Association leadership development opportunities offered by the Academy. “The Ottumwa Leadership Academy allowed me to meet and network with other professionals in Ottumwa and made me aware of different service organizations and the need for involvement. It gave me the opportunity to work on a project in a team environment and to highlight the importance of participation. The monthly sessions made me more aware of the workings of local government, emergency response, and law enforcement in addition to resources for mental health and other services available to those in need.”

Now that she is serving in an advisory role for the Ottumwa Leadership Academy, she hopes to offer valuable ideas for the Ottumwa Leadership Academy curriculum and define the Academy’s goals.

Suzie is an IHCC graduate, a member of the Ottumwa Hy-Noon Kiwanis, Ottumwa Oktoberfest Committee, Ottumwa Regional Legacy Foundation Bright Ideas Committee, and the Southeast Iowa Legal Aid Advisory Council. When not working and volunteering, she loves to travel, boat and camp, and spend time with her family, especially her 2-year-old grandson Waylon.
