Being an effective leader means you need to be an effective communicator. During a recent session at Ottumwa Leadership Academy, participants practiced public speaking with a Dale Carnegie trainer and also learned additional tools in how to communicate during conflict. One participant shared, “The Carnegie trainer challenged me to step out of my comfort zone as I am not an expressive person by nature.”
Participants also had hands-on practice in communicating with the media and were interviewed by local radio and television. One participant stated, “I was a bit nervous when it came to speaking to the radio station and TV station, but the learning experience was wonderful.”
