Sandra McReynolds is the Community Engagement Coordinator at the Food Bank of Iowa- Ottumwa Distribution Center. Born and raised in Iowa, she attended Moravia High School and Indian Hills Community College.

“I’m an introvert and often shy around folks I don’t know, so joining the Ottumwa Leadership Academy was an exercise in getting out of my comfort zone. I also wanted to improve my skills and confidence with public speaking and presentations and grow my network,” Sandra said. “This has been a tremendous experience that has helped me grow in more ways than I expected while gaining many new friends along the way.”

Learning more about her top 5 CliftonStrengths, Empathy, Strategic, Developer, Responsibility, Restorative, has helped her grow as a leader. “Some of my strengths like Strategic and Responsibility were no surprise. The rest are qualities I admire in others but didn’t necessarily recognize in myself until we worked through the course. Leaning into my strengths now helps me to lead and serve more effectively, and helps me be more mindful of the strengths of others in collaborative settings,” she said.

She enjoys spending time with her husband and three children, traveling, gardening, and camping.
