Mike Spieler’s career is filled with accolades in both his professional and volunteer resume. After graduating with a Bachelor of Science degree from Iowa State University, Mike began his career in public accounting, followed by service as a Controller in the private industry. He then transitioned to an 18-year stint in banking before joining the Legacy Foundation as the Vice President of Finance in 2020.
Despite a busy career, Mike has always made time to serve his community through professional and civic organization involvement. His current service to the Ottumwa community includes the Indian Hills Community College Foundation Board of Directors, IHCC Business Advisory Council and Ottumwa Rotary Club.
As a newcomer to Ottumwa, Mike joined the Ottumwa Leadership Academy to learn more about the community. He says, “The Ottumwa Leadership Academy has been beneficial for me as a new member of the community, allowing me to learn more about the Ottumwa area and the many available resources in our community. I have also gained new friendships and made many connections I wouldn’t have otherwise had the opportunity to make.”
