When applying for the Ottumwa Leadership Academy, Samantha Meinders (Class of 2019) said, “I am always looking for ways to break out of my comfort zone and strengthen my communication skills and be a part of something bigger than I could accomplish on my own.”

And she was able to do just that, leading to her being named Talent Acquisition Coordinator for MUSCO Sports Lighting. “Ottumwa Leadership Academy was instrumental in building my confidence in my professional growth and my work with the community. Talent Acquisition often requires the ability to think outside the box, collaborate with others, and build a network of peers and resources. OLA helped me capitalize on these strengths while learning more about what I could offer to my community.”

Meinders’ career began in the financial industry at Wells Fargo, before transitioning into Human Resources roles at Community 1st Credit Union and Ottumwa Regional Health Center.

Samantha had advice for anyone considering applying for the Ottumwa Leadership Academy. “Everyone can get something out of the Ottumwa Leadership Academy. No matter what your professional and personal goals are, OLA provides many different opportunities for development.”
